Week 1: Historical Post (KD)

Louis Daguerre

Louis Daguerre was a famous Frenchman who helped invent the art of photography. He also invited the diorama. He worked in architecture and theater design before moving onto photography. There was some competition with photography in Great Britain, but Daguerre issued a patent in Great Britain which slowed the development of photography in that area. Although he did not take the first permanent photograph, he did take the firs photograph of a person that had an exposure time of over 10 minutes.
