Born in San Francisco on February 20, 1920, Ansel Adams is one of the most well known and respected American photographers. Fascinated with Yosemite, Adams joined the Sierra Club and began exploring what would become the subject of the majority of his art. In 1932, Adams co-founded Group f/64 with fellow photographer Edward Weston and his fame increased. He worked as a commercial photographer whose clients included Kodak, IBM, and AT & T.
One of Adams' greatest talents was his mastery of burning and dodging. He practiced "straight photography" in which he focused on the clarity of the lens and manipulated the photo in the darkroom but due to his talent, it looked like it had never been altered. Part of his talent was his ability to produce perfect prints.
