Daguerre Post

Louis Daguerre was born on Novemeber 18, 1787 in Val-d'Oise, France. Through development of skills in architecture and painting, Daguerre became a highly noted designer for theatrical panoramas. He was most noted for his skills pertaining to theatrical illusion, having trained with Pierre Prevost for his youth. In the 1820's, Daguerre began to work with Joseph Niepce, who developed the world's first photograph. Exposure to Niepce's work urged Daguerre to develop the "Daguerrotype," a photographic process. The Daguerrotype uses a mirror for a surface, creating a direct positive image in the camera. The photo taken through the Daguerrotype can be adjusted from negative or positive dependent upon the angle of the shot. Although Daguerre achieved success through this creation, William Talbot of England challenged his creation with the calotype. Therefore, Daguerre had the "Daguerrotype patented in August 12 of 1839 in order to preserve his name as the first great pioneer of the film development process.
